Sedum Tasteless Stonecrop Sedum Sexangulare is a succulent, perennial plant and is native to Europe and Asia. Sedum Tasteless Stonecrop seeds germinate rapidly, and they can be sown indoors or directly outdoors. Also commonly called Six Row Stonecrop, Watch Chain Stonecrop and Hexagon Stonecrop, this Sedum variety is a vigorous, dense, glabrous, mat-forming stonecrop that typically grows to 3-5" tall and spreads to 12-24" wide. Six Row Stonecrop features foliage with the six spirals of succulent, bright green, linear leaves that turn shades of rose and copper in the sun and take on copper-bronze tones in fall and winter. Tiny, starry, bright yellow flowers bloom in cymes just above the foliage in summer attracting pollinators.
Sedum Tasteless Stonecrop is highly adaptable and can tolerate more shade and moisture than most stonecrops, so it is a versatile plant to grow as a groundcover in moist or dry conditions. Other garden uses include rock gardens, alpine gardens, containers, green roofs, rock walls, and border fronts. Sedum Sexangulare seeds have to be just pressed slightly into the soil and not covered. Established Six Row Stonecrop thrives in full sun and sandy to gravelly soils of moderate to low fertility tolerating light shade and moist but not wet soils with good drainage.
