Rockfoil Purple Robe Saxifraga Arendsii is an evergreen perennial plant that belongs to a group of over forty cultivars known as the Arendsii Hybrids which were developed and introduced by Arends Nursery in Germany. Rockfoil Purple Robe seeds can be sown directly outdoors in spring or fall, and also commonly called Mossy Saxifrage, this variety of Saxifraga Arendsii is a compact, low to the ground, mat-forming evergreen ground cover plant with bright-green leaves and bearing short flower stems. Rockfoil Purple Robe blooms profusely with masses of small, upfacing, cup-shaped, carmine-red flowers in spring and early summer.
Rockfoil Purple Robe is best suited as an evergreen ground cover or alpine and rock garden flower for cool, moist locations, and Mossy Saxifrage looks magnificent spilling over walls or containers, and this low-growing plant is also great for border fronts and accents. Saxifraga Arendsii seeds have to be just slightly pressed into the soil and not covered. Rockfoil Purple Robe grows best in cool growing conditions and does not tolerate drought or hot humid weather. In warmer zones, the plant requires afternoon shade. Saxifraga Arendsii self-seeds itself without being aggressive.
