Cucumber Spacemaster Cucumis Sativus is a compact plant that is the perfect for growing in small gardens with limited space. Cucumber Spacemaster seeds can be started indoors in 4-6 weeks before last frost or outdoors in 1-2 weeks after after last frost when soil temperature is at least 65 F. Spacemaster Cucumber can be planted in rows or hills, and if planted in rows the plant spacing has to be 12-24 inches, or 3-6 plants per hill if planted in hills.
Cucumber Spacemaster grows only 2-3 feet tall, but this compact vine produces large numbers of tender, full of flavor, 7-8 inches long slicing cucumbers that are perfect for salads and sandwiches or for eating plain. Spacemaster Cucumber can be used for pickling, if the fruits are harvested when they are small. Spacemaster cucumbers grow rapidly, and the plant can stop fruit production if there are mature cucumbers on the vine, so to ensure the continuous production the cucumbers have to be picked almost every day.
