Blazing Star Liatris Spicata is a herbaceous perennial native to the United States. Another common name of this plant is Gayfeather, and Blazing Star is easy to grow from flower seeds. Liatris Spicata produces the stiff, cylindrical, flower spikes that are heavily concentrated with deep-rose, purple flowers. When Gayfeather starts to bloom, the flowers open from the terminal end of the spike and slowly descend toward the base.
